The New 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan is Coming

April 12th, 2020 by

Throughout history, the E-Class and its ancestors formed the basis of what Mercedes-Benz is all about. The current model continues to lead its segment with superb engineering and design while offering levels of performance expected from this legendary car.

For 2021, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan will offer more style, performance, technology, efficiency, and luxury than ever before. This is why Mercedes-Benz describes the new E-Class as “intelligence that excites.”

The updated 2021 E-Class will feature a new dynamic design. Up front, you will see a pair of redesigned headlamps. Full LED lamps are standard, but you can opt for the available MULTIBEAM LED headlamps for more dynamic frontal vision at night. The headlights will frame a new front bumper and radiator grille design that is more modern and on-trend. The taillights will also be redesigned in a horizontal design, mirroring the current design look of the latest Mercedes-Benz models.

The hallmark of a Mercedes-Benz is the application of driver assistance systems onto our vehicles. The 2021 E-Class will now add a new level of driving assistance technology to keep our occupants safe. These new driving assistance features include a new steering wheel generation with capacitive hands-off detection, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with route-based speed adjustment, Active Stop-and-Go Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist with a turning maneuver function, and a Parking Package in conjunction with the 360-degree camera and an expanded side view screen.

Once inside the 2021 E-Class, you will find more comfort inside and a huge leap in technology. The instrument panel will now have a standard widescreen cockpit design, with two 12.3-inch displays – one for the instrumentation, the other for the MBUX infotainment system. The MBUX system will now add standard LINGUATRONIC voice control and available augmented video for the onboard navigation system. To top it all off, an available Interior Assistant allows for intuitive natural operation of various comfort and MBUX functions. This is done through movement recognition.

Perhaps the biggest leap in the evolution of the E-Class is the addition of an electrified driveline for the first time in the model’s history. The E 450 will feature a 362-horsepower 3.0-liter inline turbocharged six-cylinder engine with EQ Boost technology. This engine will incorporate a 48-volt electrical system.

This same engine gets the AMG® treatment in the new E 53 sedan. Power for the turbocharged inline six is raised to 429 horsepower, connected to a nine-speed AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® transmission and 4MATIC®+ all-wheel-drive system. The AMG® E 53 sedan will also feature specific exterior updates, including a rear diffuser and a specific grille up front. More AMG® elements are added inside the  E 53 with specific functions in the MBUX screen, as well as an AMG® steering wheel and seating.
