If you’re looking to spring-clean your car, and you’re not sure where to start, explore our 5 easy steps for performing a comprehensive Spring tune-up in Springfield. If you’ve, perchance, come across this blog off-season, keep reading. You’ll still find plenty of helpful information on the signs your car needs a tune-up. If you think you need help with performing any of these tasks, don’t hesitate to schedule a Mercedes-Benz service appointment at Mercedes-Benz of Eugene!

1. Go to the Car Wash

The first step to performing a Spring tune-up is so obvious that it’s often overlooked. When you Spring clean your car, take it down the street to a Roseburg car wash. The winter can be harsh on a vehicle. Freezing temperatures, water exposure, and road salt can all take a toll on your paint job. Opt for the deluxe wash, so you don’t miss any of the nooks and crannies that might still be compacted with road salt. Also, make sure to add a little baking soda to your water if salt appears to be an issue. This will help neutralize it.

2. Perform a Tire Inspection

Winter is rough on your tires, and you’ll want to make sure there aren’t tiny holes in your tread, and that all in all, your tread is in healthy condition. If one or two of your tires seems to sag a bit, bring your vehicle in or a tire rotation. If you air up your tires, and they gradually leak over the next few days, let us find those holes in their treads and patch them. If you notice that there are welts, bubbles, or bulges in the sidewall of your tire, you’re due for a tire change. If you find small metal clips in your tread, you’re also due for a tire change. If all of this information is overwhelming, don’t hesitate to take your vehicle in for help with performing a Spring clean on your car.

3. Replace Windshield Wiper Blades and Fluids

Your windshield wipers are especially susceptible to snow and ice damage. If you notice that your wipers are streaking, it’s time to replace the blades. You’re also likely due to change your windshield wiper fluid.

4. Perform a Battery Inspection

Your vehicle works harder to perform in cold weather and your car battery has a bigger job to do. Take it into our garage, so we can perform a battery test and see how strong it is. If it’s weak, you’ll need to replace it to prevent future problems.

5. Perform Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement

This is the last step of how to tune-up your car. You’ll want to check your MBUX system to see if you’re due for Mercedes-Benz Service A**^ or Mercedes-Benz Service B**^. These service intervals ensure that you stay on top of your Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* services. Oil keeps the moving parts of your engine lubricated so that they don’t grind each other down and so that they don’t generate massive heat and cause catastrophic engine failure.
